Slimsun is a dedicated solar photovoltaic (PV) development and asset ownership company that is developing 22MWs of pre-permitted solar PV assets the Malmesbury region of the Western Cape, South Africa.Franco Afrique Technologies (FAT), as project promoter, is a small innovative company led by entrepreneur Anthony Corin. and Evolution One Fund are jointly developing the 22MW solar PV facilities. ’s first phase Swartland Solar Park project will have a 5MW generation capacity. The projects fall under the Department of Energy’s IPP Procurement Programme in South Africa. A local BBBEE shareholder, called the Darling Trust, holds 20% equity in the company. will also operate and maintain the site in the long-term via a skills transfer and hand-over from JUWI (Germany’s largest solar PV developer) who is to be the operations and maintenance provider. JUWI will also provide the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the project. The first 5MW project is due to reach commercial operation on or before June 2013.
